Welcome
to Simsbury Junior Woman’s Club! The Simsbury Junior Woman’s Club, founded in
1957, is an enthusiastic group of women age 18 and older that contributes time
and effort for the benefit of our community and state. We are an affiliate of
Connecticut Junior Women, Inc. (CJW). There are over 60 clubs and 2,000 members
in CJW. We, along with other CJW clubs throughout
Connecticut, support a State Project that was selected by the CJW
board. The project chosen for the 2008-2012 tenure is Covenant to Care. In a
variety of ways Covenant to Care assists children in crisis.
Our theme in Juniors for the 2009-10 year is going to be about OPENING DOORS : both how Juniors can open doors for
each of us and how we can open doors for others who need a little help. Some of
the projects we are currently working on include: Helping families from Covenant
to Care by donations, planning special mentor-mentee events, and adopting a
social worker; craft and story times at the Simsbury Public Library; supporting
many events that occur in the Farmington Valley at places such as Roaring Brook
Nature Center and the Simsbury Senior Center; planning volunteer events that
member’s children can participate in to learn the importance of service to
others. We also plan exciting fundraising events such as the Mistletoe Market
and The Ladybug Ball, allowing us to raise money that is donated to many
non-profit organizations.
Our rewards for the time and effort given are personal satisfaction, a
sense of civic pride, and the warm friendships that often result from working
together.
But… all is not work! Our club sponsors a wide array of social activities
throughout the year, enabling our members and their families to foster
long-lasting relationships and providing fun for all. We would love to have you join us!
