The Simsbury Junior Woman's Club is run by
the Club's Board which is made up of the Club's president, 1st
vice president, 2nd vice president, treasurer, recording
secretary, corresponding secretary, and the co-chairs for each
committee. Members are asked to choose a major committee on
which to serve for the Junior year (September to May).
Committees may change from year to year depending on the
interests of the Club's members.
Major committees for the
2010-2011 year are as follows:

The "Valley" Girls -
Addresses the health and home needs of our community and
membership through lectures, handouts, walk/run
participation, collections for shelters and food pantries,
Meals on Wheels delivery help and so much more.

Membership - Dedicated to continuing the excellence
of the club by soliciting and retaining members. We strive
to make every member feel welcome and valuable.

The Education Committee - Promotes education through programs at the Simsbury Public Library
such as children's story-times, seasonal story and craft
activities and Character Days as well as the coordination of
community education programs.

Ways and Means - Organizes fund raising activities
for the club. Past events have included a Fall craft fair,
art auction and wine tasting. The Ladybug Ball, Macy's
Shopping Day, ArtStamps. All funds
raised, minus the club's operating expenses are donated to
local charities.

Covenant to Care- Is the Connecticut Junior
Woman's Club State Project for this year. This
committee will be adopting a social worker, coordinating
critical goods collections and placement packs, plan a "Fun
Day", and help raise community awareness of this important
organization's mission.

Kids Contribute - This is a new committee this year which will introduce SJWC
members' children to community service and volunteerism. Projects will include:
working with local seniors, both at the Simbury Senior Center and McLean,
thanking and supporting soldiers and local service people, and helping sick and
less fortunate children.
