About

Who We Are

Our members are women 18 and older from a variety of backgrounds who are united by our passion for community service.  Members include stay-at-home moms, professionals, locals, women who are new to Simsbury, and women from neighboring towns Canton, Avon, Granby and West Hartford. What we all have in common is a desire to volunteer some time and energy to help those in need in our community.

What We Do

Our programming changes from year to year based on the interests of current members.  Examples of service projects we have undertaken in recent years include:

  • Delivering meals for the Meals on Wheels program

  • Providing nutritious home cooked meals and desserts to Simsbury Social Services

  • Sponsoring various drives for clothing, toiletries, and school supplies to benefit local children, veterans and families

  • Honoring Simsbury first-responders by providing delicious thank-you baskets of snacks

  • Partnering with Simsbury Celebrates to present the Annual Gingerbread House Competition and Exhibit

  • Presenting the annual Teddy Bear Sleepover and Mugs and More for Moms events at the Simsbury Public Library

Our Mission

Our History

The Simsbury Junior Woman's Club (SJWC) was incorporated in 1957 and has continuously served our local community for over sixty years.

We are an affiliate of Connecticut Junior Women, Inc. (CJW) which was first established in 1938 and now consists of over 60 clubs and 1,500 members throughout the state.

"Simsbury Junior Woman's Club has been the single most gratifying organization I've ever gotten involved with. It's truly an inspiring group of women striving to better our community."
